PRADO SILOS designs with the aim of offering the best solution to the different needs of different applications
commercial and manufactured using the latest technology. Our silos are perfectly designed to
withstand the loads produced by continuous use, strong winds and heavy snowfall.
The silos use a vertical system of supports which significantly increase the efficiency of the bonded steel au maximum strength of the silo. This support system can also be adapted to meet different infrastructure load conditions, and add to it
additional reinforcements on points of greatest stress, such as below
footbridges.
Finally, our grain storage silos offer great resistance to corrosion thanks to the use of
galvanized sheet ZM-310  on the shells, on the roof sectors and for the reinforcements.
Below we will describe the main components of silos along with their characteristics:

  • Standards and regulations

At PRADO Storage Solutions we carry out all structural calculations in accordance with regulations and
following standards:
EN 1990 - Basics of structural design.
EN 1991-4 - Actions on structures; Silos and tanks.
EN 1993-4-1 - Design of steel structures; Silos and tanks.
EN 1993-1-3 - Design of steel structures; Additional rules for walled pro les and walls
thin cold formed.
EN 1993-1-5 - Design of steel structures; Flat plates loaded in their plane.
EN 1993-1-8 - Design of steel structures. Calculation of assemblies.
ANSI/ASAE EP433 - Loads exerted by the free flow of grain in silos.
ANSI/ASAE EP545 - Loads exerted by the free flow of grain in shallow storage structures.
ANSI/ASAE D241.4 - "Density, Specific Gravity, and Mass Moisture. Grain Relationships for Storage.
DIN 1055 - Design loads for constructions. Silo loads, snow loads and wind loads.
DIN 18800 - Metallic steel structures. Design and construction.
DIN 18914 - Cylindrical steel tower silos with thin walls.

CONICAL BOTTOM SILOS

These silos are designed for gravity discharge processes and mount on a support structure. Our range of hopper silos offers volumes ranging from80 m3at1260 m3.

Conical bottom silos are used as seed storage (sunflower seeds, soybeans, corn, sorghum, rice, etc.). They can also provide temporary storage of wet grain as part of a grain drying plant and other applications, as flow regulators in silo plants.

Likewise, for other types of industrial plants, it is possible to store other free-flowing products such as pellets.

Hopper

All hoppers are designed for many cyclic loading and unloading processes. We provide hopper angles of47°and60°as a standard measure.

Conical bottom silos have a smooth transition to the hopper walls without ladders or ledges, to provide the cleanest possible product discharge.

Structure

The silos are supported by a ring formed by portions of curved and welded beams. The whole lower structure and the ring are hot-dip galvanized.

The support structure is formed by hot rolled sections.
